We minimize your liability concerns by providing experienced drivers and fully-equipped trucks to ensure the proper handling and transportation of your generated waste material. Also, CSI has no *minimum waste material pick-up requirement. |
Chemical Solvents Inc was founded in 1970 by Mr. Ed Pavlish. Ed’s vision, insight, and strong leadership skills have built CSI into one of the strongest, most successful independent chemical distribution companies in the country today.
As the needs of our customers have changed, CSI has expanded to satisfy those needs. In addition to distribution of a full range of chemicals, CSI markets a full array of specialty products, custom formulated to meet specific customer needs. In 1979 we formed our Waste and Solvent Recycling division. Our modern Part B facility is fully permitted by local, state and federal authorities to safely handle our customer’s disposal and recycling needs.
In our effort to continue to provide value to our customers, CSI built a custom blending operation. Our blending capabilities include being able to handle flammable, viscous and complex solvent and liquid blends. This enables our customers to save money on insurance, labor and quality control costs.
As CSI celebrates its 40th year of business and beyond, Ed Pavlish’s commitment to bring maximum value at competitive pricing still exists today. The over 100 employees of Chemical Solvents Inc take deep pride in our history. We look forward to helping the customers of tomorrow see why we are the premier full service Chemical Distribution Company in the country today. |
Analytical support is vital to the many processes of handling generated waste materials in order to ensure complete compliance with all regulatory authorities. Chemical Solvents Inc. provides leading edge technology and expertise in conducting both environmental and industrial analysis during every phase of our business. Developing new solvents and formulations also requires critical laboratory analysis. Raw materials are rejected if producer's specifications are not verified.

All incoming waste materials are thoroughly analyzed by CSI's lab technicians upon arrival to verify and confirm their intended recycling and treatment process. We perform 100% analysis of each and every inbound waste container. Profile and lot numbers are generated to provide complete information and optimize tracking as to when, where and how generated waste is handled and processed.
Our lab technicians test all pure, virgin, blended and recycled material before shipping to ensure it meets your highest quality standards. The assurance of our quality commitment is the lab computer generated Certificate of Analysis delivered with each product shipment. CSI's research and development staff is frequently called upon to specially formulate many non-hazardous, non-regulated low volatile organic compounds (V.O.C.) products. Our laboratory operates 24 hours per day, 5 days a week. Listed below are some of CSI's laboratory capabilities:

Technically speaking, Tim McNeilly is Chemical Solvents, Inc.’s (CSI) technical director. But he’s probably better known in the industry as the go-to guy for some of the most innovative specialty formulations.
Just don’t ask McNeilly to crow about his professional accomplishments. He likes to keep the discussion to CSI, to its leading goods and services. “Our specialty formulations include superior solvents, as well as aqueous and semi-aqueous based products, such as purging, thinning and metal degreasing and cleaning solvents for numerous plastics and fiberglass materials,” says McNeilly.
More specifically, since joining CSI, McNeilly assisted one customer in converting from 111 trichloroethane to a semi-aqueous cleaner for removal of adhesives and sound deadeners. He also produced a semi-aqueous fiberglass cleaner to replace flammable solvents, made custom blends for paint strippers and paint thinners, and transformed users from hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) to blends with low HAPs. Additionally, McNeilly crafted blends to reduce Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), converted customers from HCFC 141b to more environmentally friendly alternatives, and developed a special heated paint-stripping process safe for use on aluminum.
Solvents are just part of CSI’s success story. Its complete range of services and products includes: commodity chemicals and solvents, hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal, solvent recycling, specialty products washer and degreasing, transportation, technical lab and training and support services.
CSI was founded in 1970 and, up until ‘79, generally supplied chemicals to local manufacturers. About that time, the business added a full-service recycling division to its lineup. But about 12 years ago, company players realized that, to stay ahead of the curve, they’d have to beat the EPA to the punch. Case in point: McNeilly developed an ozone-friendly water-based cleaner as a substitute to ozone-depleting solvents. Such moves clinched CSI’s stature in an industry that’s often one step behind government standards.
CSI is conveniently located in the hub of the greater Midwest industrialized region, on Jennings Road in Cleveland. Its Cincinnati extension will undoubtedly add to CSI’s edge. Blain Davidson, vice president of sales, emphasizes it’s just a matter of months before the facility will be in full swing.
